COVID 19

COVID 19 has contributed to many new challenges for us all including the ability to access safe patient handling, manual handling or no lift training for staff who work in hospitals, aged care, disability and home care within Australia.

Louise O’Shea developed an online course several years ago specifically for health, disability and aged care workers in safe patient handling. It takes the participant through specific safe operating procedures to move and reposition patients or residents on the bed and transfer those patients in and out of bed. It includes the use of slide sheets, patient hoists, hover matts, pat slide or slide boards, and other key patient handling equipment.

The course is used by many public and private health care facilities and universities and provides a certificate of completion and has 2 Continuous Professional Development points awarded to it.
